ReNu
ReNu products Recalled Because of Liability Issues
About 32 million people in the United States wear contact lenses. For many of them, ReNu Contact Lens Solution is a familiar brand. Two ReNu products have been recalled because of potential products liability issues. On March 6, 2007, ReNu manufacturer Bausch & Lomb announced a recall of certain lots of ReNu Multiplus contact lens solution. The recall of 1.5 million bottles came after an elevated amount of trace iron was discovered in the solution. Elevated trace iron could potentially shorten the shelf life and discolor the solution.
Reports have linked another ReNu product, ReNu with MoistureLoc, to a blinding disease known as Fusarium Keratitis, which can result in the need for corneal transplants. Bausch & Lomb recalled ReNu with MoistureLoc on May 15, 2006.
