50-Car Crash in York County Kills One Person

State police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the afternoon of Monday, January 30, 2017 on 1-83 Southbound. The multi-vehicle pileup took place in York County near Glen Rock after a snow squall swept over the area, causing poor visibility and icy roads.

Police have released the identity of the crash victim as Juan Ramos, 26, a truck driver from Woodbridge, VA. The York County Coroner confirmed that Ramos was wearing a seat belt, but died at the scene of the accident as a result of multiple blunt force trauma.

40 passenger vehicles and 10 commercial vehicles were involved in the crash, and numerous people sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
