Harrisburg Doctors Alert Patients of Potential Records Breach

Two Harrisburg-based physician offices have notified patients of a potential medical records breach.

Harrisburg Gastroenterology and Harrisburg Endoscopy and Surgery Center on Union Deposit Road began sending letters last week indicating that an unauthorized person could have potentially accessed patient information, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, birth dates and medical information.

The offices say it's just precautionary and there is no evidence that any information was accessed or stolen. However, they decided to use extreme caution and notify patients. The office has since enhanced its cyber security measures.
